Seasonal homes account for at least 50 % of vacant units in 645 U.S. counties.
Maine (15.3 %), Vermont (13.2 %) and Alaska (9.1 %) have the highest share of seasonal homes.
The U.S. has 6.5 million second homes, representing roughly 4.6 % of all homes.
